Shifting Into Water

Back in January, I shared that I’ll be exploring the elements one at a time throughout this year, beginning with AIR. As I began my journey, I had thought that I would come in like a whirlwind – blogging more, sharing all of what I had learned in previous explorations of Air. But instead, Air showed up as stillness, as quiet, as that small space between each breath.

Air & Water

For many weeks I was forced to slow down with sickness, teaching me how to spend time with myself alone with no agenda, showing me the gifts of stillness and awareness.

Throughout that time, I learned so much about myself and I finally learned how to sit still in silence, which I was never able to do previously. Although it was a rough couple months, I am grateful. Grateful of the changes it made in me. Grateful that I can now enjoy a (semi) daily meditation practice to listen to my Soul. Grateful for the new fresh eyes on life. Grateful for this new found ability to tap into my heart and write to you with ease. Grateful.

So grateful in fact, that I’ve been resisting this feeling of Water coming into my world these past couple weeks. I’ve been feeling the shift. The Air energy I’ve been getting used to has been slowly lifting as the quickness of Water rushes in.

Air & Water

I’m a little anxious about it actually. Through my lessons in stillness, I’ve seen just how much I have stuffed my emotions down throughout my life. And do you know what Water usually represents? Yup. Emotions. I have a feeling that this cycle will not go as planned, just as Air was surprising.

In my first experience exploring Water last year, I thought much about how our society places its value on product, on the final result of creativity, and how, really, creativity is so full of mysticism. And so, the Water e-book I have prepared to gift you (which will be arriving soon!) is all about being in the flow of creativity. I had planned to spend my time writing about all the different ways we can be creative in our daily life. How we can tap into the easeful flow of the magic of creativity.

I hope to still touch on these subjects in the next couple months as we explore Water. But I have a feeling that Water has its own plans for me. We’ll just have to wait and see!

In the meantime, I would love to hear your experience with the Air cycle. Did you invite it into your life? What did it teach you? Share with us in the comments below!

Much love,

Noticing Air

As we begin our journey of exploring the elements with AIR, let’s take a moment to call it into our lives, breathe it in, and notice.

Breeze

Breathe in…

Notice it filling your lungs, expanding your chest… then releasing into the space around you.

How does your body move as you fill your lungs?

What does the air feel like on your skin?

From now until April, keep your eyes, nose, and ears focused on the air around you. Keep your imagination active as you filter your life through the lens of AIR. How does air show up in your life physically? How do the qualities of air show up in your life metaphorically? How can you use air to help you in your day-to-day? For example, when things feel tough, you can close your eyes, take a deep breath, and invite air in to lighten things up.

As we begin to notice air in our lives, we’ll not only gain a deeper understanding of the world around us, but we’ll also start to gain a deeper understanding of who we are.

Using AIR as our lens through which we see our lives, we’ll begin to see things in a way we may not have otherwise, gaining clarity on all aspects of our BEing.

To help us hold this lens in place, it’s helpful to place reminders around our spaces and infuse our activities with air. Here are some ideas you can use:

#1. Journal or Ponder About Air – Taking some time to reflect on what you already know about air is a powerful way to begin our journey together with intention and trust in your own inner knowing. Journal, write, paint, doodle, or think about air and how it plays a role in your life. Here are some prompts to get you started:

  • What are some words you would use to describe air?
  • What qualities of air do you sometimes or often express? (some examples would be: nourishing, energizing, playful, destructive, forceful, mysterious..)
  • What symbols, lines, forms, or imagery do you associate with air?
  • Where are you longing for more spaciousness in your life? How can you create it during our exploration of air?

#2. Create a Pinterest Board – Pinterest is full of inspiring air images, and a perfect place to create dream boards, energy boards, and more. Create a board full of calming images that remind you to slow down and take a deep breath. Or, create a vision board for what your heart is calling you to do. To get started, take a peek at my Air Inspiration board HERE.

#3. Update Your Desktop and Mobile Backgrounds – Changing up my desktop and mobile background images is one of my favorite ways to remind me of a feeling, mood, or energy I aim to embody that day/week/month. What side of air do you want to embody this week or this month? Do you want to call in the expansiveness of air? Or perhaps an airy feeling? Keep this thought in mind as you search for an image that reminds you of this feeling. Images are powerful in evoking certain feelings and responses in us!

Here are a few of my favorites (click on the image to be taken to the original source for download):

#4. Infuse Your Creative Practice – Whether you art journal, create mandalas, draw, paint, dance, or whatever… infuse it with the energy of air. Use air as your inspiration!

#5. Create an Altar – Creating a space to celebrate air is a beautiful way to honor the element and to remind you of its presence throughout your day. Simply gather a few things that remind you of air and display them together in a space that you’ll see during your day. Perhaps your nightstand? Or a shelf next to your desk? Some items you might consider adding to your altar are: feathers, a candle or incense to invoke your sense of smell, light pastel items or stones, angels, photographs, etc.

Some other ideas might be: Listen to flutes or other music (My fav flute album is Dreams from the Grandfather), light incense, start or bring intention to a breathing practice, get your heart pumping, use essential oils, smell roses, follow me on Instagram, read my AIR E-Book, watch the breeze move through the trees, star gaze, find pictures in the clouds…

What other ideas do you have? Which of these will you try? Share in the comments below!

Much love to you!!

It’s a Funny Thing: AIR

Shh can you hear it?

Air…

We can grasp and understand the things that it makes itself known through, like clouds, wind, tornadoes, sound… but air itself, is so mystical, mysterious, invisible, infinite.

What is this that fills our bodies, gives us life, moves our hair, penetrates all beings…?

We can’t see it, yet we know it’s there, moving in and out of our bodies, filling all the space between you and me, connecting us to one force.

It has moved through our ancestors, and will move through our great, great, grandchildren.

It expands beyond our reaches far up in the space above.

It’s this sense of mystery that got me intrigued as I explored Air. What else moves us and shifts us that we cannot see? What other mysteries are yet to be discovered?

As I pondered these questions, I began to think of my own story, and the forces that guided me along to where I am today. There’s magic in this world. There’s magic in YOU. These forces, whether you call it intuition, a gut feeling, or your heart calling you, is what keeps you going in the right direction, if only you allow it.

Through this exploration, a book was born. And ooooh I’ve been so excited to share it with you for sooo long!!! This Air e-book is very close to me. It was created last year as one of four element books during my journey of exploring my story and learning about sacred space, the mysteries of the world, the creative process, and beyond.

So today, I’d like to offer it to you as a gift. And as you open up this book, know that you are opening up my heart and taking a peek inside. I hope that it opens up your heart as well and inspires you toward releasing all the “shoulds,” forgetting what everyone else is doing, and embracing what your heart is calling you to do.

You are beautifully unique and full of infinite possibility. It’s time to truly honor that.

Let’s Explore the Elements

Four Elements

Over this past year, I’ve fallen in love with the elements of air, water, earth, and fire. Well… consciously I mean. I’ve always loved them, and they’ve always been infused in my being, as they are in all of us. But as I studied under Connie Solera exploring the elements and learning about sacred space, intuition, the creative process, and beyond… I felt at home. I felt deeply held and guided by the elements.

So much so, that when our cycle was nearing completion, I felt an ache of sadness at the thought of having to leave such a beautiful container of transformation.

But then I realized… I don’t need to move away from this container, this guided feeling of the elements surrounding me. I could take it into my own hands, continue to nurture myself, and hold the space for you as well as for me.

This is the beauty of sharing. The well never dries, the energy and love simply continues to grow and expand, reaching more and more people.

Exploring the Elements

So I extend this loving, safe container out to you and invite you to be held and guided by the elements.

Let’s explore them together.

Let’s infuse our every being with the breath and magic that this world has to offer.

Using the elements as a container for our inner explorations is a fun, grounding, and powerful way to gain clarity in our life. As we notice and explore the ways in which the elements show up for us, physically and metaphorically, it allows us to gain a deeper understanding of who we are.

It guides us to view things through a different lens, to see things in a way we may not have otherwise.

For the length of 2016, and into 2017, all of my journaling, explorations, blogging, emails, and view on life will be through the filter of the elements, one at a time, beginning with AIR.

I invite you to take this journey with me. In an easeful sort of way. I’ll hold the space, and offer gentle reminders, prompts, imagery, and explorations to infuse your life with each of the elements. Take or leave what feels right for you as you explore each element in your own way, and just notice how things shift. How things feel.

Allow the elements to support and guide you in your life with a loving, gentle embrace.

As I said, we’ll begin in AIR, exploring all the aspects of this one element in our life, then move on to the next. The structure of our element container will be as follows:

AIR: January – April 2016
WATER: May – August 2016
Earth: September – December 2016
FIRE: January – April 2017

There’s nothing to sign up for, nothing specific to do… just notice.

Be sure to sign up for my email love notes and updates below if you haven’t already, as well as follow me on Instagram, to keep inspired as we flow through these spaces! Thursday I’ll share some of my own thoughts on AIR and offer a special gift to help immerse yourself in this flow-ey, mystical element.

In the meantime, begin to ponder: What does AIR bring to mind for you? How does it show up in your life?

cloud

As a side note: Just know, even though we’ll be exploring the elements one at a time, each will always be with us. So if at any point you find yourself gasping for air or drowning in one certain element, you can always call on the others to center yourself again.

For example, as we move through AIR now through April, we may find ourselves feeling light headed, or too far into the dream world. When this happens, we can use the other elements of earth, fire, and water to ground ourselves back to center. Do this in any way that feels right for you. Perhaps taking a walk in the woods would help. Or immersing yourself in a long, hot bath. Sit by a fire, burn a candle, smell some flowers… whatever feels good.

Here’s to a beautiful journey ahead!!
