I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating… making art is a mind game. It’s not all just about technique – your attitude and mindset need to be in the game too. So, what little change do you need to make to enjoy the art process more and love your outcome?
Simply, let go of expectations!
I’m not asking you to lower your expectations – because that would mean you are expecting and accepting less from yourself. Instead, I want you to LET GO of all expectations. Assume nothing, expect nothing… let go of any preconceptions of what the outcome is “supposed to be”. Let the page (or your art) decide what direction it wants to take, instead of trying to dictate where you want it to go, then embrace whatever comes out of it.
Just by changing your attitude during the creation process, art journaling can be so much more fun, and you’ll love the outcome so much more!
Give it a try! Grab some supplies and start slapping down some paint, and see where it takes you. Let go of your expectations and enjoy the process!
